To achieve a people-centered development faster, it is important to bring women on the decision making table. However, a lot of factors prevent women from sitting on those tables and participating and directing their own lives. Among these factors are; poverty, HIV/AIDS, disease, water, hunger, gender based violence, ignorance and illiteracy.

Gender roles have dictated that women pre-occupy themselves with these issues.

A woman in Mbeere, Eastern Kenya , spends 8 hours a day, searching for water. Women in Eastern Province of Kenya cannot devote time to anything else. The larger proportion of her life is spent searching for water, stunting development.

In North Eastern province, women cannot participate in decision making because culture does not allow them to share a table with men.

Unless we address these problems, we will never get women into leadership and decision making structures. The Women Regional Assemblies have seen the need to address these issues, as a prerequisite towards equal representation and participation in decision making.

• Income Generating Activities (Micro-finance)
• Sensitization (Awareness creation, Education campaigns)
• Supporting HIV/AIDS orphaned children.
• A water project.
• Para legal training.
