The overall decision-making body of the KWPC is the Annual National Convention (ANC) to whom the Governing Council is answerable. The ANC comprises all Women Regional Assembly members, founder organizations, Coalition partners/organizations, individual members and all other invited persons. The 17 members of the Governing Council are elected during the Annual National Convention and serve for 2 years.

The Governing Council is responsible for laying down strategy, policy and the implementation thereof. Eight of the 17 members are provincial representatives representing the Women Regional Assemblies. The Executive Director, appointed by the Governing Council, oversees the daily running of the Secretariat and is an ex-official member of the Governing Council.
